Ned Denison talked about his crossing of False Bay in South Africa – and all kinds of interesting and little known ramblings and observations on the Will Bill podcast last year.*

During his 30-minute talk, the chairperson of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame also talked about the typical afternoon freshening up of open bodies of water to Kevin Murphy’s three-way attempt of the English Channel here:

Historical False Bay Crossings

For more information on False Bay crossings on the Cape Long Distance Swimming Association, visit here. There are various courses in False Bay:

  • 10.5 km between Miller’s Point and Fishhoek
  • 20 km between Rooi Els and Gordon’s Bay
  • 11 km between Fishhoek and Miller’s Point
  • 10 km between Simonstown and Muizenberg
  • 33 km between Rooi Els and Miller’s Point

* The Will Bill podcast is part of the “Wild Bill” Yorzyk Swim & Paddle Challenge in Massachusetts (see here). The 1-, 2-, and 3-mile annual event is held in memory of Dr. William Yorzyk (1933-2020), a 1956 Olympic gold medalist in the 200m butterfly, a holder of 11 world records in the pool, and a well-respected local community champion.
