

Ichika Kajimoto (21, Japan, World Aquatics bio here, @chika_0307) won her first international event – the 3 km Knockout Sprint – at the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup 2025 – Stop 3 in Setubal, Portugal on June 15th.
The 21-year-old heading placed 19th in the 10 km race the day before, but she has the composure and make-up to be a podium contender at the upcoming World Championships in Singapore next week. She has the speed, stamina, and confidence after sweeping the 3 races in the 3 km Knockout Sprint with a 6:41.60 in the final 500m heat, after qualifying first in both the 1.5 km first round with a 18:59.90 and a 13:06.30 in the 1.0 km second round.
With the speed of 2:01 in the 200m and 4:07 in the 400m and the stamina of 8:26 in the 800m and 16:10 in the 1500m, as well as two consecutive podium finishes in the 3 km Knockout Sprints in the last two World Cups, she is ready to race in Singapore.
