How Does Pat Gallant-Charette Do It?

On September 18th, International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer Pat Gallant-Charette became the oldest individual to complete the California Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Santa Barbara Channel at the age of 70 years and 228 days.

She explains her 19.6 km crossing of the Santa Barbara Channel from Anacapa Island to the California mainland, “During the 9 hour 22 minute crossing, I had the joy of several curious dolphins visiting.  One came within a foot of me.  What a spectacular sight.”

The Santa Barbara Channel is one of the World’s Top 100 Island Swims and is one of the three California Triple Crown swims along with crossings of Lake Tahoe and the Catalina Channel.
