Michael Ball, a Palace of Westminster (UK Houses of Parliament) police veteran, was added to the Half Century Club for his 2009 English Channel crossing of 12 hours and 55 minutes. This exclusive group of English Channel swimmers – limited to those individuals 50 years and older – is impressive – as was a total of £5,002 in donations generated though Michael‘s charity swim for the Ellenorlions Hospices.
