If there is a global center to hardening, Russia has got to be one of the world’s centers. Like Wimbledon for tennis or Tokyo for sumo, Tyumen is one of the world’s acknowledged epicenters for winter swimming.
The entry forms for the Tyumen Winter Swimming Open Cup in Озеро Чемпионов (Lake of Champions) in Tyumen, Russia are now available.
The ice swimming championships will take place in Tyumen on December 11th – 15th with several objectives in mind:
* Promotion of healthy lifestyles and community involvement in sports
* Encourage effective hardening and winter swimming
* Strengthening relationships between clubs and centers that specialize in hardening with those in Russia
The age groups include 14─19 years (born 1994-1999), 20-29 years (born 1984-1993), 30-39 years (born 1974-1983), 40-49 years (born 1964-1973 ), 50-59 years (born 1954-1963), 60-69 (born 1944-1953), 70+ years (born 1943 and earlier) for the following events:
– 25m and 150m freestyle for women, men under 20 years, and men over 60 years
– 50m and 300m freestyle for men
– 4x25m relay
– 300m, 500m, more than 500m freestyle for women
– 500m, 1000m, 1500m freestyle for men older than 20 years
– 1500m+
