Ned Denison, chairperson of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, interviewed Olympic and world champion Ferry Weertman (@veryferryfast).
Weertman is an Honor Swimmer in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame (Class of 2022) and won 13 career medals during his Olympic and World Aquatics career including gold medals in the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2017 World Championships. He was later awarded Knight in the Order of Oranje-Nassau.
Although he primarily works as a consultant for VASCO in his native Netherlands, he has also volunteered for World Aquatics and is expecting a child together with his wife Ranomi Kromowidjojo (@ranomikromo shown below). The 32-year-old Dutchman has served 7 years on the Athletes Committee and has served as the Vice Chairperson on the Technical Open Water Swimming Committee.
Humble and hard-working.
Intense and intelligent.
Competitive and cheerful.
