Christof Wandratsch and David Frantzeskou of Folkestone’s Varne Ridge Holiday Park were able to catch up at the 2013 Global Open Water Swimming Conference where Wandratsch gave a presentation on his latest exploit, an unprecedented swim across the Bodensee, the largest lake in Germany.
The 46-year-old marathon swimmer, still the third fastest person across the English Channel and a 1994 Honour Swimmer in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame, stayed at Frantzeskou‘s hotel.
Varne Ridge Holiday Park is located over the English Channel to the coastline of France and often plays host to open water swimmers from all over the world who come to England in the hope of swimming across the English Channel – many of whom participated in last night’s Hall of Fame ceremonies in Cork, Ireland.
