Curaçao is a beatiful Caribbean island with an emerging open water swimming community, both sea swimming and channel swimming.
In addition to the charity event called the 2.7 km Swim for the Roses, the first Iguana Open Water Swim with a 1 km fun swim and a 5 km competitive swim will take place on May 9th in the bay of Porto Marie.
The race is named after the animal that is frequently seen on the island on both the land and the water. “We are looking forward to a delightful swim. And the organizers of the Iguana will also host a 10 km marathon swim in the future,” says Ruijsink who completed a Curaçao Channel Crossing from Klein Curaçao to Curaçao in 2014.
