France Is On Top Of The Open Water World

Under the direction of head coach Stéphane Lecat, France finished the open water swimming schedule with 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze to win the Championship Trophy that is awarded to the highest scoring nation at the FINA World Championships.
The rankings are based on the cumulative individual and team scores of the 5 km solo race, 5 km mixed team relay, 10 km marathon swim and 25 km marathon swim.
France finished ahead of Italy and Germany. USA and Hungary rounded out the top 5 open water swimming nations.
Championships Trophy, Top 5 Nations:
First: France with 53 men’s points + 60 women’s points + 8 relay points = 121 points
Second: Italy with 48 men’s points + 38 women’s points + 16 relay points = 102 points
Third: Germany with 41 men’s points + 40 women’s points + 18 relay points = 99 points
Fourth: USA with 11 men’s points + 58 women’s points + 14 relay points = 83 points
Fifth: Hungary with 41 men’s points + 13 women’s points + 5 relay points = 59 points

Gold: Ana Marcela Cunha, Brazil – 57.56.0
Silver: Aurelie Muller, France +1.0 second back
Bronze – Hannah Moore, USA + Leonie BECK, Germany +2.0 seconds back
