Flying With Fins At The Waikiki Roughwater Swim

Spread the love

The Waikiki Roughwater Swim has a new offering, especially well-suited to those who are newcomers or who are a little afraid of swimming the entire distance across Waikiki Bay.

Kaia Hedlund announced the new fin division will have a traditional onshore start and finish. “Swimmers can use any size fin they wish while all other race rules apply. Awards will be given to the top three men and top three women. Fin division participants will start in the last group.”

Like adding breaststroke categories in Europe, the far-forward thinking group from Honolulu are adding non-traditional open water swimming regulations in order to attract those who may not have the motivation or means to swim 2.4 miles.

Sounds like a fin-filled time in Hawaii.
