Ezmee Jones Talks About The IISA 6th World Championship

Ezmee Jones (USA, 17, IISA bio here, @ezmeejones), who will enter the University of California Davis as a distance swimmer this August, recently returned home to Northern California.

While some graduating American seniors might take a European vacation, Jones had a different mission: representing the USA at the IISA 6th World Championship in Molveno, Italy where the water temperature was 1.8°C (35°F).

In the video below, she talks about swimming in such cold water temperatures, rewarming, competing, and her future in the sport of ice swimming.

Over the five-day championship schedule, she was very very busy, finaling in 9 different events over 5 days:

  • 4th in the 100m backstroke
  • 4th in the 250m freestyle
  • 2nd in the 200m individual medley
  • 2nd in the 50m backstroke
  • 7th in the 100m freestyle
  • 4th in the 100m butterfly
  • part of the winning 4 x 250m mixed freestyle relay with her older brother Keaton JonesLisa Yamamoto, and Stephen Rouch
  • 8th in the 4×50 medley relay with Keaton Jones, Mariah Reading, and Stephen Rouch
  • 6th in the 4×50 freestyle relay with Keaton Jones, Mariah Reading, and Stephen Rouch
