Euan Liney completed a three-peat at the Cole Classic (@coleclassicswim) in Sydney, Australia with his third consecutive victory in the 5 km, finishing in 55:55 ahead of two-time Olympic 10K marathon swimmer Yasu Hirai Fukuoka (Japan, , MSF bio here, @fortheloveofyasu). Liney recently finished fifth in the Australian Open Water Swimming Championships.

On the women’s side, Jeanette Britster upset 5-time Cole Classic winner Tayla Martin and won in 1:03:32. She also finished second in the 2 km, finishing behind Jana Kowalski.

Hayden Cotter equaled Liney’s three-peat by winning his third consecutive 2 km in one of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims.

The 34-year-old Yasu Hirai Fukuoka wrote about his second-place finish, “I am getting back into the competitive spirit. I raced against young, energetic swimmers. It was the first time in a while that I felt this level of excitement and focus while swimming. The race also gave me insight into where I currently stand. My finish time was 6 minutes faster than last weekend’s Sydney Harbour Splash 5 km race, reaffirming that my strength is definitely returning. I am proud to be part of the North Bondi Surf Club, Australia’s largest life-saving club, which boasts a 100-year history.”
