COBH HARBOUR, Ireland. Niall O Crualaoich has done the English Channel, Ironman triathlons and represented his home country in the World Triathlon Firefighter Championships.
He is also preparing for the sixth annual 1.8K Escape from Spike Island. “This year’s swim will be in August. The details will be published by the end of February.”
The Escape from Spike Island is part of the Triple Crown of Prison Island Swims, also known as Triple Break, a trio of ocean swims where swimmers challenge themselves to escape by swimming from some of the world’s most well-known island prisons: Alcatraz in San Francisco, California, Robben Island near Cape Town, South Africa, and Spike Island in Cobh, Ireland.
