Ernie Hoftyzer On Getting Started and Keep Going

Ernie Hoftyzer (USA, 54, MSF bio here) is now an experienced marathon swimmer and a Triple Crowner. He talks about his own triggers that got him motivated to get into the sport and continue different kinds of challenges in a wide-ranging 28-minute discussion with Ned Denison.

In addition to his many solo marathon swims, he also was part of the 2015 California Screamin’ Relay with Tina NeillForrest NelsonKent NicholasEmily Evans, and Melodee Nugent when the sextet swam from Doctor’s Cove around Santa Catalina Island to around  Santa Barbara Island, and then returned around the remaining part of Santa Catalina Island to finish at the Isthmus in 51 hours 55 minutes.
