LOCATION: Helensburgh. Argyll & Bute. Scotland.

SWIMMING EXPERIENCES: BLDSA record holder for team relay of Loch Lomond. Chillswim relays Windermere. Coniston end to end. Great North swim. London triathlon.

SWIMMING BACKGROUND: I came to swimming in my 30s due to a running injury and decided to compete in my first pool based triathlon, this quickly led to the open water. After a break whilst I had my son, I came back to open water swimming and gradually increased the distances and challenges.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO GIVE OPEN WATER A SWIMMING A TRY: Initially it was to compete in triathlon, now it’s just for the sheer fun of feeling free!

HOW OFTEN ARE YOU SWIMMING: During winter, maybe 3 times a week in the pool whilst keeping up a weekly does of cold water, bioprene fun.

WHERE IS YOUR PREFERRED SWIMMING LOCATION (I.E SEA/INLAND WATERWAYS/RIVERS/LOCHS/LAKES): Lochs of Scotland & the lake district

DO YOU PLAN ON TAKING PART IN ANY OPEN WATER EVENTS THIS YEAR:
I plan to enter the Dart 10k swim and to complete a swim across the Corryvreckan whirlpool in August. This will take me out of my comfort zone and into salt water.
