It is almost time. Endurance athlete Emily von Jentzen has thrown off her neoprene suit and will attempt a 70-mile (112.6 km) swim in Canyon Ferry Lake in Helena, Montana without a wetsuit.
Media day has come and gone, years of training have gone into her pursuit, and the time is now.
Radio interviews, newspaper photo shoots, television broadcasts are finished and in the bag. Now is the time where dreams and plans meet reality.
The 29-year-old swimmer and attorney is normally a non-stop whirlwind of activity whether it is in the court house or swimming pool. But now with less than a week to go before her longest non-stop marathon to date, she is now in the taper phase for her unprecedented lake swim. Over the course of 2-3 days, she will swim without neoprene in the Swimming for Carter’s Cause: Four Paws event, a charity swim to raise funds to pay for and train a service dog for 2-year-old Carter Hasselbach.
