FINA publishes press releases on each of its FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup and FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix events. Fans and media learn how gets in the top 3 in each of the FINA press releases.
But FINA does not release or post the full results of its World Cup and Grand Prix events although the top 3 male and female athletes are noted in press releases. The world’s governing body of aquatics should. It would be easy enough to document and and post the full results, especially as the sport grows internationally.
Fans want to know.
On a related issue, FINA should also keep statistics and track information on any and all swimmers who withdraw from its World Cup and Grand Prix events, either voluntarily or involuntarily. Documenting the reasons why the world’s most capable and well-trained marathon swimmers withdraw from the many races in the world would be valuable information to analyze.
Just thinking out loud.
