Dan Projansky finished the 8-mile Swim 4 Freedom in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in 8 hours 20 minutes, doing all butterfly. “I did it to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, but the conditions were awful. There were huge swells, whitecaps and tremendous surface chop. It rained and thundered and some lightening.

“I wanted to break six hours, but because of the terrible surface water, I had to zigzag and attack the water from a different angle. I never broke into a different stroke. My escort driver asked me if I wanted to continue despite the approaching storm, but I was on a mission.”

8 straight hours in rough water. Mission accomplished.
