Lance Armstrong will compete in 9th Annual Lake Travis Relay in Austin, Texas on October 13th. The SwimStrong team will include the world’s most famous cyclist along with teammates Rip Esselstyn, Chris Kemp, Travis Robertson, Dale Rogers, and Jeremy Smitheal.
But SwimStrong, the defending champion in the 6-person relay who set the standard last year in 4 hours, is going to face some DAM strong competition.
SwimStrong will face-off with the traditionally fast Dallas Aquatics Masters who look forward to an upset in the 12-mile relay that starts and finishes near Carlos n Charlies at Emerald Point on Lake Travis.
Armstrong, has been banned by the United States Anti-Doping Agency,and is ineligible
for any World Anti-Doping Agency member or affiliated competition. Armstrong’s entry has been accepted by the American Swimming Association, which is not a United States Anti-Doping Agency member or signatory. The American Swimming Association organizes a number of open water swims and pool competitions for a range of athletes in the Austin, Texas area.
