Spread the love

Ten months after receiving a shock of his life, American open water swimmer Gene Augustin set a record in Lake Cane, Orland of 39:22 for the 80-84 year age group.

Lucky Meisenheimer commented, “Not bad considering he was receiving chemo just a few weeks ago.”

Earlier this year in January, the 82-year-old Augustin was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he is coming back with a passion and his new 1 km record set on October 18th.

His chronicles of his recovery are posted here.

Additional records held in Lake Cane are posted here by Lucky Meisenheimer.
