Ashley Twichell Takes 10K aQuelle Midmar Mile

Ashley Twichell was in the middle of a pack of 12 during the first 2.5K loop at the aQuelle Midmar Mile 10 km race on Monday in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.

She clocked a 30 minutes 38 seconds on the first loop swimming in the middle of the pack.

After a comfortably lengthy feeding on the first loop, she picked up the pace to 88 strokes per minute during the second 2.5K loop. She was followed by South African Olympian Troy Prinsloo who swam through the 10K to do a 25K time trial.

With her quickened pace on the second loop (29:27), only Prinsloo, Matthew Meyer and Nick Gray were able to hang out to the pace-setting American woman.
She clocked through a 29:46 on the third loop and 29:33 on the fourth and last loop to finish in 1:59:26.

She was followed by Brandon Murray in 2:01:11, Troy Prinsloo in 2:01:25, Garreth Beech in 2:08:56, Sasha-Lee Nordengen in 2:09:44, Michelle Weber in 2:12:19, and Clarice Le Roux in 2:12:47, Reino Von Wielligh in 2:14:59, Stephen Clarkson in 2:22:00, and Juan-Jacques Van Der Hoogen in 2:31:37.
