99 swimmers from 27 countries are ready to race at the first leg of the FINA/CNSG Marathon Swim World Series that will be held this Saturday, March 13th at Katara Beach in Doha, Qatar.
France and Italy are all serious business about the first professional marathon swims in over a year. France will take 20 swimmers and 11 officials to Doha including defending champion Marc-Antoine Olivier. while Italy will be represented by 13 athletes and 5 officials.
Everyone will be participating under a very strict COVID-19 protocols including Tokyo Olympians Kristóf Rasovszky, Gregorio Paltrinieri, Ana Marcela Cunha who last won in Doha in 2019, defending champion Leonie Beck, Lara Grangeon, and Rachele Bruni. The field also includes fast swimmers like Fares Zitouni and Arianna Bridi, and Olympic medalists including Oussama Mellouli and Ferry Weertman.
Without any unexpected changes or postponements, the 2021 FINA Marathon Swim World Series schedule is as follows:

- June 19th in Setúbal, Portugal
- July 25th in lac St-Jean, Canada
- August 7 the in lac Mégantic, Canada
- August 28th in Ohrid, Macedonia
