With increased popularity, the financial burden on organizing the annual Robben Island event has led to the swim being put on hold for the time being.

In its place, a new 9 km Freedom Day Swim, along the coast from Llandudno to Camps Bay, sponsored by Realtor Of Excellence and other supporters, has been created.

The new Freedom Day Swim includes the 9 km swim along the spectacular 12 Apostles mountain ridge, and a 1-mile, 800m and a fun relay 200m swim (on the Camps Bay Primi Piatti side).

The Freedom Day Swim from Llandudno to Camps Bay will take swimmers along the shore the entire course, allowing spectators to follow in the current-assisted course with a beautiful finish at Camps Bay.

Online entries will open February 15th on www.freedomswimseries.co.za with the following categories: Solo naked, Solo wetsuit, Relay naked and Relay wetsuit.
