The Road To LA28 Goes Through Cancún

Spread the love

Cancún is a great place to start focusing on the LA28 Olympic 10 km open water swim.

The hard-packed white sand that laps upon the Cancún shores reminds me very much of Belmont Shore in Long Beach, California where the Olympic open water races will be held on July 17th and 18th 2028. If the onshore winds blow similarly in Cancún, it could be a splitting image of Belmont Shore.

This Friday, November 6th, large fields of the fastest men’s and women’s open water swimmers will compete in the 10 km World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup 2026/27 that starts with Stop 1 in Cancún on the beautiful shores of the Caribbean Sea located on the northeast coast of Quintana Roo in Mexico.. On Saturday, November 7th, the competition will culminate in the 3 km Knockout Sprints.

The best of the best are here in Cancún:
