Mark Moore has been coaching masters swimmers and open water swimmers at the Mission Viejo Nadadores Masters for the last 31 years – and he was a veteran coach even before starting at Mission Viejo.

For decades, he has seen his adult swimmers achieve countless accomplishments, deal with unanticipated misfortunes and unexpected tragedies, all while carrying on steadily and relentlessly with their daily lives, families, and work. Early morning workouts from 5:00 am, 6:00 am, and 7:00 pm followed by workouts at 9:00 am and 12:00 noon at the famed Mission Viejo Nadadores pool, his homegrown wisdom has been augmented by the collective experiences and sagacity and insights from swimmers in their 80s, 90s and a few centenarians.

His first book, released in August 2026, is entitled WORDS FROM COACH: Train with Purpose: A Masters Swim Guide. He quickly followed his first publication with MORE THAN SWIMMING (Five Lessons Learned in the Pool), released this month.

Words from Coach is a collection of his practical wisdom, motivational insights, and coaching lessons designed specifically for Masters swimmers and adult athletes. His first book ends with five life-changing lessons centered on Commitment, Courage, Consistency, Teamwork, and Belief. His second book picks up those five concepts and further delves into the themes of discipline, motivation, mindset, respect, attitude, goals, and practice reveal how the challenges faced in the water often mirror those we face in life.

Both books are available on Amazon here.
