The last race of the last day came out to the last swimmers on the anchor leg.

Mate Karpati (17, Hungary, World Aquatics bio here) held off Ivan Sartor (18, Italy, World Aquatics bio here) to win.   Karpati said afterwards, “I am super proud of the team. I saw the Italian guy coming up on me. I am happy to win like this, It is a dream come true. I saw [Ivan] coming really fast and I gave it my everything.” His teammate Mira Miszlai (18, Hungary, World Aquatics bio here) said, “The win was super awesome for our team. We are really proud of each other. We had two training camps together before here and we were really pushing each other [at the camps].”

Karpati ended the competition with two gold medals and a bronze. His teammates Balint Kreisz won the 7.5 km race, Napsugar Nagy won a bronze in the 7.5 km race, and Mira Miszlai finished 4th in the 10 km race.

Family Affair

It was a family affair on the USA side. Sister and brother Alex Siegel and William Siegel both won medals in the relays today as did sisters Karrington Hansen and Brinkleigh Hansen and younger brother Sawyer Hansen.
