For 47 consecutive years, the annual Point to Point Compo Beach Swim has been raising funds for the Westport Weston Family YMCA. This rectangular-shaped one-mile charity swim in Compo Beach, Connecticut was held this past weekend where 17-year-old Maegan Grisanti [shown above on left] and 12-year-old Brady Shiferman [shown above on right] both defended their titles from 2025.
While many of the fastest swimmers were teenagers, swimmers like 70-year-old Stacey Sloan, 73-year-old Kathy McGuire, 78-year-old Andrew Coleman, 80-year-old Eileen Berenyi, 80-year-old Paul Epstein, and 82-year-old Ann Onton held their own and helped raise funds for the YMCA programs.

Age Grading Across Different Ages and Genders
But what was unusually special about this Westport events was the special age grading results that its timing system provider (elitefeats) offered.
Age grade tables are statistical tools used in running events to score and compare race times across different ages and genders. The results are calculated as a percentage comparing how the swimmer’s time compares to the theoretical world-record time for a person of that same age and sex. Age grading lets a 62-year-old swimmer – like Stephani Sharp – compete against a 17-year-old swimmer – like Maegan Grisanti – by neutralizing the natural slowing effects of aging. Sharp said, “Oh my gosh, the young swimmers took off so fast. I could not keep up, but it was fun returning to the sport and competing after all these decades.”
