Open Water Argentina Offers 1.5 km to 70 km Challenges

Open Water Argentina (OWA) is an open water swimming circuit in Argentina that offers the 12 different races and solo challenges, ranging from 1.5 km to 70 km in distance that cater to swimmers of all abilities and experiences. The circuit started in 2018 and is held between December and April in the Southern Hemisphere:

  • 18 km Vuelta de Obligado
  • 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km Liebig-Colón
  • 8 km Cruce del Nahuel Huapi
  • 18 km revelos Isla Caraballo
  • 4 km, 7 km, Super Sprint San Pedro
  • 2.5 km, 5 km, 10 km Liebig-Colón
  • 1.8 km, 3.5 km wave relay Pinamar
  • 1.5 km, 3 km, 6.5 km Vuelta a La Huemul
  • 18 km revelos Isla Caraballo
  • 4x250m, 2.5 km, 5 km Puerto Alto Delta
  • 70 km San Nicolás a San Pedro
  • 40 km Cruce Río de la Plata [sold out in 2026]

Management

Co-founded by professional marathon swimmers Damián Blaum (45, Argentina, MSF bio here, World Aquatics bio here with 31 career podium finishes) and Fernando Ciaramella (World Aquatics bio here), the management team also includes International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer Esther Núñez Morera (45, Argentina, MSF bio here, World Aquatics bio here with 40 career podium finishes) as well as María Lorena Amantegui, Nadir Baca Paunero, Andrés Misiak, Fabricio Polisano, and Lucas Rivet (shown below).
