Sabrina Peron (62, Italy, MSF bio here) is a successful attorney and cancer survivor who is making the best of her global opportunities in the open water.
After becoming the first Italian woman to cross the 32.3 km Catalina Channel, she recently became the first Italian women to swim from Robben Island to Blouberg in South Africa. The 7.4 km was covered in 3 hours 57 minutes, despite her oncological treatments and subsequent loss of strength. “But I’ve wanted to do it for a long time” – and she saw her long-held dream ultimately became true on March 10th under the escort of Roger Finch in the 15-16°C water with seals, dolphins, and whales.
With her unprecedented skins circumnavigation swim around Capraia Island in Italy, the completion of the International Jarak-Šabac Marathon Swim in Serbia, the 20 Bridges Manhattan Island Swim in New York City, the English Channel, the Strait of Gibraltar, the Strait of Messina, and the Bosphorus, various swims in her native Italy, a relay across the North Channel from Northern Ireland to Scotland, and her upcoming relay around the Aegadian Islands, she continues to enjoy the currents, waves, and wind.
