Ayaka Matsushita Crosses Cook with Catalina Coming

Ayaka Matsushita (Japan, @aya0424m) of Kanagawa Prefecture is one step closer to completing her Oceans Seven dreams with a 23 km .Cook Strait crossing on January 27th 5 hours 26 minutes.

Her nickname in Japanese is Umionna, translated as “sea woman” in English.

She is very clearly enjoying her global ocean swimming journey that has included crossings of the Molokai Channel in Hawaii, Tsugaru Channel in her native Japan, Rottnest Channel in western Australia, and the Cook Strait in New Zealand to date – with a crossing of the Catalina Channel in California coming this summer.
