Ambassadors Represent Open Water Swimming at Singapore World Championships

World Aquatics announced two charismatic personalities as its open water swimming ambassadors at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships to kick off in Singapore on Monday, July 10th.

Olympic champion and four-time world champion Sharon van Rouwendaal (31, Netherlands, MSF bio here, World Aquatics bio here, @svrouwendaal) and Olympian and model Alice Dearing (28, Great Britain, MSF bio here, World Aquatics bio here, @alicedearingx) will cheer on 69 women who will be competing in the 10 km race on Day One of the World Championship schedule.

Van Rouwendaal had an incredible year in 2024 as she won the 5 km and 10 km World Championships in Doha as well as winning her second Olympic 10K Marathon Swim gold medal in the Seine at the 2024 Paris Olympics. While she will not be competing in Singapore, the 31-year-old will be representing the sport and serving as an ambassador. Her fellow training partner, Moesha Johnson (27, Australia, MSF bio here, World Aquatics bio here, @swimmer_moe) is on her own victory streak in 2025 and is considered the gold medal favorite in the 10 km race on Monday.

Dearing was the first black woman to become a British swimming Olympian at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Then, she really turned on the jets and became busy. She later joined the Executive Committee of the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame is a passionate advocate for raising awareness of water-safety and drowning prevention, and encouraging aquatics participation in African, Caribbean and Asian communities in the UK.
