Jack Carr hosts the Danger Close Podcast where he discusses topics related to his books, military experience, and the world of special operations. The podcast features conversations with real-life warriors, tactical experts, and fellow writers – like John Doolittle, CAPT, USN (Ret) who crossed the English Channel in 12 hours 24 minutes in 2004 – after jackhammering in his first workout that only lasted 5 minutes.

Doolittle crossed in memory of Petty Officer Neil Roberts who was killed during combat in Afghanistan. His charity swim benefitted the Naval Special Warfare Foundation which supports the family members of Special Warfare personnel killed.

But Doolittle talks about his journey that started when he was only being able to spend 5 minutes in 15°C water before he started to jackhammer and get out. He talks about his mentorship under Mike Troy and a wide variety of other experiences around the world – including the ultimate success at crossing the English Channel.

Carr and Doolittle went through the famed Navy SEAL’s BUD/S Class together. Over his 25 years of service, Doolittle led elite teams in deployments across the globe and spearheaded the Preservation of the Force and Family program at the Special Operations Command. Carr spent 20 years as a Navy SEAL where he served as a Team Leader, Platoon Commander, Troop Commander, Task Unit Commander and a sniper. Now, he is a speaker, podcaster, and author of the bestselling Terminal List series. Inspired by actual experiences serving in conflict areas around the world. His novels follow James Reece, a Navy SEAL who becomes embroiled in the world of conspiracies, international espionage and revenge.
