After winning medals in the 5 km (silver by Dávid Betlehem, silver by Viktória Mihályvári Farkas, bronze by Kristóf Rasovszky), 10 km (gold by Viktória Mihályvári Farkas, gold by Kristóf Rasovszky, bronze by Dávid Betlehem), 3 km Knockout Sprint (gold by Kristóf Rasovszky, gold by Bettina Fábián), it was no surprise that Hungary won the 6 km Mixed Team Relay on the final day of the European Aquatics Open Water Swimming Championships in Stari Grad, Croatia.

With Fábián, Farkas, Betlehem, and Rasovszky in the Hungarian line-up, each swimming 1.5 km in the mixed relay, the favorites proved up to the task and won the event.

But, this being open water, there was strategy, tactics, physicality, drafting, positioning, very fast swimming, and close races involved. Italy (Giulia Gabbrielleschi, Ginevra Taddeucci, Marcello Guidi, and Gregorio Paltrinieri) and France (Clemence Coccordano, InésDelacroix, Sacha Velly, and Logan Fontaine) did not make Hungary’s victory easy, pushing every leg.

Coccordano (16:06.43) and Guidi (15:20.34) had the fastest overall splits, by gender.

Judging by the collective effort that everyone put in, from the swimmers to the organizers and coaching staff, and the smiles and hugs, the 2025 European Championships were a tremendous success.
