Jari Cennet Tammi (@swim_trek) is still making his way – slowly but surely – by swimming 9,000 km from Istanbul, Turkey to Cádiz, Spain. This adventure is estimated to take him over 7 years to complete.
7 years. For 1 swim. Imagine that: pulling, dragging, carrying all his gear behind him with a Pro Drybag 100L. The Swedish adventurer specializes in self-sufficient swims (also known as self-sustained swims, self-supported swims, or unsupported swims

When you attempt such a stage swim, you learn things. Jari says, “My wetsuits always wear out in the shoulder area due to movement and sun’s rays. So the wetsuit I had from the start in Istanbul, I used neoprene glue as sun protection on the shoulders. When it wears out, I putty a new thin layer with neoprene glue. When you spread the glue, you must wear the wetsuit for at least an hour so it dries before you take it off.”

He often comes up with pearls of wisdom. “You cannot swim for new horizons until you have courage to lose sight of the shore.”
