The ice swimming season is coming to an end, but the fun continues.

The 2025 German Ice Swimming Championships (see here) were held in Landhotel Altes Zollhaus, Neuhermsdorf in the Ore Mountains near the Czech Republic border. 127 swimmers competed in the 1.1°C water and -2.0°C air temperature at 800m altitude. The 25m course fit snugly within the small natural lake, but the organizers had their hands full getting the lake free of ice.

The German Ice Cup 2024/2025 season concluded after stops at Silbersee Ice Cup in Langenhagen, VEItSbad Cup in Veitsbronn, and Burghausen in Upper Bavaria.

The winners of the German Ice Cup (as multiple German champions) included Franziska Partheymüller (Germany, 29, IISA bio here) in the women’s overall, Kilian Franke (Germany, 25, IISA bio here) in the men’s overall, and Tina Deeken (Germany, 48, IISA bio here) in the para swimming division [shown above with Partheymüller) – which was her second Para Cup season victory after winning the Para Cup in triathlon in 2024. It was quite a year for the double Para Cup winner in both summer and winter sports.

Martin Tschepe (Germany, 60, IISA bio here) and Peggy Henning (Germany 56, IISA bio here) won the 1000m freestyle in 17:18.09 and 20:03.37, respectively. Moritz Philipp (Germany, 25, IISA bio here) and Henning won the 250m freestyle in 3:49.90 and 4:15.87, respectively. Franke, Malin Sitzmann (Germany, 22, IISA bio here), and Deeken won the 100m freestyle in 1:03.67, 1:21.15, and 1:35.06, respectively.

Franke and Parthymüller won the 100m breaststroke in 1:20.87 and 1:29.21 respectively. Franke and Parthymüller also doubled up in winning the 50m freestyle in 27.81 and 32.05, with Deeken winning the para division in 43.02. Franke, Partheymüller, and Deeken won once more in their respective divisions in the 50m breaststroke in 36.27, 39.64, and 57.90.

Christian Thon (Germany, 26, IISA bio here) and Frankie Jackson (Great Britain, 15, IISA bio here) won the 50m butterfly in 30.58 and 43.08, respectively.
