Keaton Jones Continues His Dominance in the 100 Freestyle at the IISA 6th World Championship

On Day 3 of the IISA 6th World Championship, all eyes were fixed on 20-year-old Ameican Keaton Jones who is having a Phelpsian time in Molveno, Italy.

Similar to the dominant 100m freestyle victory of Pan Zhanle of China at the 2024 Paris Olympics – where he swam away from a stellar field in the second half of the race, Jones won by an astounding 3.5 seconds, an incredible gap given his competitors and his relatively little experience in ice swimming.

After his experience in Molveno nearly freezing water and air temperatures, the University of California Berkeley sophomore will return home to books and classes with a lot more hardware and records to his name. Earlier in the day, Jones dropped his world world from 55.69 to 53.71 and then once again this evening to 53.15 – his third victory and third world record in the first 3 days of the world championship.
