Michael Rice, a two-time winner of the SCAR Swim Challenge, a 4-day stage swim in the desert backcountry of the state of Arizona, has registered for the 2025 event and is the overwhelming favorite to become a three-peat winner.

SCAR is the acronym for the 4 lakes of the event: 

• 13.3 km across Saguaro Lake on Day 1
• 14.1 km across Canyon Lake on Day 2
• 22.8 km across Apache Lake on Day 3
• 10 km around a triangle course at night in Roosevelt Lake

The brainchild of Arizona attorney Kent Nicholas, the race/solo adventure is one of the World’s Top 100 Open Water Swims and part of the Triple Crown of Stage Swims, and will be held on April 23rd – 26th.

The SCAR Buckle is the famed award given to the fastest female and male swimmers gat the annual SCAR Swim Challenge.
