Last month, Stève “Seal” Stievenart (@steve_stievenart) of France completed a Polar Ice Mile in Longierbien, Svalbard fjord, Norway in 4°C water and -5.0°C air temperature in 34 minutes 50 seconds.
The International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame Honor Swimmer seemed so nonchalant immediately after getting out and beginning his rewarming procedures under the guidance of Ger Kennedy.
His rewarming procedure included a short walk to a nearby dry sauna and dipping his hands in cool water. That was a far cry from his most recent Ice Mile in Mombetsu in northern Japan where he and Kennedy had to resort to sitting in taxi while the Japanese driver wearing white gloves drove around in circles with the heat blasting for an hour.
