Poliana Okimoto And Rafael Goncalves Win King of the Sea 2K

Swimming World Magazine covered the inaugural 2K King of the Sea Challenge (Rei do Mar Desafio see below) on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. Poliana Okimoto won overall in 25:07 while 29-year-old local swimmer Rafael Goncalves won the men’s race that was undecided until the run up the beach. “It was tough, but a very good race. We had a tough [lead] pack.”

In the sprint 400-meter match race with the pro swimmers, Trent Grimsey just edged out Chad Ho of South Africa to claim the pole position in today’s featured 10K race that will be televised live for two hours on TV Globo.
