In this optical illusion, created by by Emily Knight and Arthur Shapiro, these ‘fish‘ appear to be wiggling, but the only thing changing in this animation is the color.

This reminds us of the perspective of open water swimmers.

Occasionally, we swim and believe the finish is so close…yet it remains far off in the distance. Or that the shoreline appears to be straight…but isn’t. Or that the current is going against us, only to find out it is the ongoing chop that is making the swim an uphill battle.
