The South African 25K Championships were held in Jeffreys Bay as part of the Jeffreys Bay Open Water Swim Festival at Marina Martinique. Tyron Venter was back to defend his title. In a pre-race practice swim, Tyron said, “This afternoon Brenton [Williams] and I swam the course to get our bearings and I am blown away by how good the canals are for open water swims.

South Africa needs more extreme swims to enable us to develop swimmers who can compete on the world stage over this distance.”

In addition to the 25K, the Steers Marina Mile was held at Marina Martinique.
