Professional marathon swimmer Rok Kerin of Slovenia went stroke-for-stroke with up-and-coming South African star Abddul Malike Railoun in the aQuellé Midmar Mile 3 km finale on the Midmar weekend.

Kerin was judged just barely to edge out the 18-year-old Abdul. The results of the top 9 swimmers is as follows:
