Chinese Guests At The Hengchun Open Water Swim In Taiwan

173 swimmers from the Fuzhou Winter Swimming Association in China, including 82-year-old Li Shizheng, traveled to Taiwan participated at the invitation of the Masters Swimming Association of Taiwan.

The 12th annual 3K Olympic Hengchun Open Water Swim last weekend saw over 3,000 other swimmers take to the waters off Taiwan’s southern coastline near Kenting.

Members of the Fuzhou Winter Swimming Association travel around Asia to do open water swims. In 2009, 683 members participated in the massive Sun Moon Lake International Swimming Carnival held in central Taiwan. Last year, 211 members swam in the Hengchun event where everyone uses a Swim Safety Device in the mass participation swim.
