Barracudas Fly In First National Kimberly Lake Argyle Swim

In Western Australia, the First National Lake Argyle Swim saw 117 swimmers with a number of colorful team names competing on May 5th for glory and cash and prizes valued over $7,000.

34-year-old Keira Macfarlane from Scarborough, Western Australia won the 20 km solo race in 5 hours 16 minutes just slightly ahead of the 20 km duo Moiron team of Moira Wigley (53) and Ron Griep (47) in 5.17.38. The young 20 km quad team, Broome Barracudas, of Joe Handscombe (15), Talara-Jade Dixon (16), Fraser Jeffery (14) and Noah Chapman (14) set a course record in 4:56:48.

The winner of the 10 km solo was 44-year-old Mark Fitzsimons in 2:42:16 with the 10 km duo winners The Silver Hobblers of Lisa Russ (30) and Steve Toth (37) finishing in 2:35:44 while the winners of the 10 km quad team were the Croc Bait team of Sarah Althorpe (24), Peter Firth (51), Jenkins Kroon (31) and Lariez Kroon (26) in 3.06.04.
