Fergal Somerville In And Out Of The North Channel

Spread the love

Fergal Somerville from Dublin went into the North Channel from Donaghadee at 6:32 am in an attempt guided by escort pilot Quintin Nelson.

1 hour 28 minutes past the Copeland Islands, Somerville’s crew and pilot made a call to pull out as the wind lifted from the North and the swell was rising. Another few hours might have been possible in the North Channel, but there was not great confidence that Somerville would make it across the tough channel under these conditions.
