Ambergris is, frankly, whale vomit.

It has a marine fecal odor with a mixture of smells like seawater, oyster shell, dune, sea grass and ocean breeze. It is also the key traditional substance that perfume manufacturers have used to create scents and perfumes.

Ambergris is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull gray or blackish color produced in the digestive system of and regurgitated or defecated by sperm whale. As it ages, it acquires a sweet, earthy scent.
