Just One Little Spark Leads To A 1000-Mile Swim

Dave Cornthwaite has been swimming down the Missouri River in the United States for a month now.

The British adventurer, author and motivational speaker is 30 days into his 50-day, 1000-mile stage swim down the mighty Missouri River – all sparked by his mother giving him a pair of goggles. “My mom got me some swimming goggles for Christmas and that’s why I’m doing this journey. That’s how simple it is; just one little spark, and we’re having a huge adventure.”

Cornthwaite’s adventures are shaped by a passion for combining sport and travel to encourage people to look after their own little corner of the planet by thinking big, staying healthy and smiling as much as possible. He is best known for his Expedition1000 project, an ambitious series of 25 journeys of at least 1000 miles in length, each one using a different method of non-motorised transport.

His goal is to raise £1,000,000 for his selected charities by the end of the project, which will take him across three oceans, to both poles, and to every continent on Earth.
