Rafael Hernández, race director of El Cruce (Por La Libre) in Cancún, Mexico’s Isla Mujeres, organized a great offshore start for the 192 swimmers in the 3 km race.
Fom Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, United States, Canada, UK, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Spain, the top swimmers included:

2. Karina Ruiz Arrieta – 47:48 (top woman)
3. Carlos Rojas 48:43
4. Desiderio Gonzales Carballo – 48:48
5. Roberto Diaz Pena – 48:53
6. Manuel Fernandez Solana – 48:55
