Viewed from every angle, the sea swim in Cancún was an outstanding race between Luiz Lima, a two-time Olympian from Brazil, and Fernando Betanzos, one of the brightest young Mexican swimmers, at the 10 km El Cruce (Por La Libre), a 10 km crossing from Cancún to Mexico’s famed Isla Mujeres.

Among the 398 swimmers who entered the 10 km race, Lima and Betanzos pulled away and made it a grand spectacle from sea level to the azul-colored skies over Cancún.
