Phil Cutti had the honors to be the last swimmer in the water and led the Night Train Swimmers onshore after their 228-mile 100-hour ocean relay from Gaviota State Park to the San Diego Yacht Club.

It was the Night Train Swimmers’ second attempt to break the 202-mile record set by the Ventura Deep Six team. The first attempt did not end so well. “Last year we gave it our best shot, but the conditions were horrendous. There were lots of jellyfish and it was much colder. After 5 days, we had to call it.”

Not this year. All’s well that ends well.
